Gilchrist Connell makes five senior appointments

Specialist insurance law firm Gilchrist Connell has announced the appointments of three new principals and two special counsel.

Katherine Czoch (pictured) and Clare Branch have joined Gilchrist Connell as principals in Sydney, while John-Paul Wilson joined as a principal in Perth. Amanda Kailis has been appointed as special counsel in Perth and Dylan Steel as special counsel in Adelaide.

Ms Czoch specialises in financial lines and directors and officers liability insurance, and joins Gilchrist Connell from Lee & Lyons Lawyers.

She brings more than 16 years' experience advising Australian, American and London insurers across major commercial and SME lines of insurance.

Ms Branch has been special counsel in Gilchrist Connell’s Sydney office since 2013.

Her background includes high-level experience across Australia and in London, and her particular speciality is in the defence of professional negligence and directors and officers’ claims, acting for solicitors, financial planners, brokers, builders, surveyors and real estate agents.

Mr Wilson specialises in liability claims, having practised in the area of insurance law almost exclusively since commencing articles in 1992. He joins Gilchrist Connell from WHL Legal.

He acts for insurers and self-insurers in the defence of workers’ compensation claims, employers’ indemnity claims, public and product liability claims, property damage claims, complex indemnity disputes and recoveries.

Ms Kailis has experience representing corporate and individual clients in a wide range of commercial disputes in a number of jurisdictions in Australia and overseas, including the UK and New Zealand. She joins Gilchrist Connell from Jarman McKenna.

Mr Steel joins Gilchrist Connell from HWL Ebsworth and brings extensive experience acting in a broad range of matters including professional indemnity, public and product liability, workers’ compensation and safety, dust disease litigation, marine and transport claims.
