CORRS CHAMBERS Westgarth has beaten off the top tier at the International Legal Alliance Awards, taking out the title of Best Australian Law Firm 2008 at a ceremony held in Paris.
The awards are selected by 15 jury panels which comprise more than 100 senior in-house counsels and senior financial executives, from companies representing all major industry sectors. In making the award, the jury commended the success of “Corrs 2010” – a program comprising strategic initiatives designed to reshape the firm.
However according to Who’s Who, Mallesons Stephen Jaques is the Australian Law Firm of the Year for 2008, the firm receiving the title for the third consecutive year at the recent Who’s Who Legal Awards.
Based on nominations received from clients and private practice professions, Who’s Who compiles a list of the leading practitioners in 29 practice areas, in nearly 100 countries, and then names the overall leading law firm in 50 countries and five US states.
The awards are published annually in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, with the editor in chief, Callum Campbell, this year praising Mallesons’ “exceptional individual and collective talent”.
