The NSWSC found there was considerable interest in a deceased child having an identity assigned to her as maintaining her anonymity would perpetuate the profound neglect and abandonment perpetuated by her parents found guilty of murder. Publication of the deceased's full name was caught by the (NSW) Children (Criminal Proceedings) Act 1987 prohibition of anything identifying the deceased's siblings. The court determined that permitting publication of the deceased's middle name was not likely to lead to identification of her family members.
