Firms navigate global deal

An Australian navigation and mapping business has been sold to a Dutch-listed company with the support of two international law firms.

Key players: Partner Craig Andrade (pictured) led the transaction for Baker & McKenzie with support from senior associate Stratos Karousos and associate Helena Caan Mattsson. The cross-practice team included technology partner Adrian Lawrence, special counsel Toby Patten and employment partner Bryony Binns.

Deal significance: Sensis’ Location Navigation business, including Australian WhereIs map assets, has been sold to global navigation and mapping company TomTom. Commenting on the deal, Mr Andrade said: “This was a great outcome for our client, with true value being realised on both sides.”

John Allan, CEO, Sensis said: “Sensis’ core objective is to be Australia’s number one marketing services company and after careful review we have determined the L&N business is best positioned to meet the changing needs of the market as part of a large and successful global player like TomTom.”
