Henry Davis York (HDY) has promoted insolvency litigation special counsel Sarah Worsfield to partner, effective 1 July 2012.

The firm has also appointed two new special counsel and ten senior associates.

Six of the senior associate promotions are in the firm's banking restructuring and insolvency practice.

HDY managing partner Sharon Cook said the promotions reflect the firm's ongoing and recent appointments as lawyers and litigation specialists on significant Australian receiverships.

"Our tier one insolvency and restructuring practice is continuing to work on some of the largest insolvency and restructuring jobs in Australia such as ABC Learning Centres and Octaviar. We were also recently appointed as lawyers for the administrators of the Hastie Group and the Sema Group," said Cook.

"The new appointments are of lawyers within the firm who have demonstrated the professional excellence and commitment that will enhance and strengthen HDY into the future.

"It also supports one of the key priorities for the firm over the past few years which has been the development of our senior associates and special counsel as the future leaders of Henry Davis York. This development has included the creation of a clear performance framework, which has provided clarity around the expectations to be met for career development."

Corporate advisory lawyer Kate Gordon and property environment and projects lawyer Sandra Lee were promoted to special counsels.

Commercial disputes lawyers Andrew Von Konigsmark and Andrea Nesbitt were promoted to senior associates. In the banking, restructuring and insolvency space, Rachel Tyson, Bronwel Edel, Renee Ashton, Fiona Parker, Michael Catchpoole and Dean Elliott reached senior associate level, while property, environment and projects lawyer Emma Smythies and workplace relations and safety lawyer Cheryl Tattersall were also promoted to that level.
