Adelaide-based commercial law firm Kelly & Co has hired former Linklaters projects partner Martin Lovell as a partner.

Lovell has experience acting for banks, sponsors and borrowers on project finance, property finance, general corporate finance transactions and high-profile energy and infrastructure projects.

He previously worked with Linklaters in London in their global projects team, Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Melbourne as part of their banking and finance (B&F) team, and most recently with Johnson Winter & Slattery.

Lovell has been recognised in Chambers Asia-Pacific (2012) as “an excellent communicator [who is] able to distil complex issues into clear, simple advice” and in the IFLR 1000 (2011) as “highly professional, diligent and practical”.

He lectures in B&F Law and Property, Equity and Trusts at Flinders University and is a member of the Financial Services Committee of the Law Council of Australia. He is also regularly published in legal journals and is an author for Lexis Nexis in the areas of trusts and business acquisitions.

Lovell has a Masters of Law (First Class Honours) from Cambridge University.

“Martin has extensive experience in multi-billion dollar projects and financing transactions and has widely sought after expertise in these key practice areas for the firm,” said Kelly & Co’s chief executive officer, Stuart Price.

“His role at Kelly & Co will assist our existing clients and meet a growing demand for top quality legal expertise in banking, finance and major projects in South Australia.”
