Lucky 13 for Barry.Nilsson

Lucky 13 for Barry.Nilsson

Barry.Nilsson. Lawyers has promoted Melanie Quixley to partner within its insurance & health law team, bringing the firm’s overall partnership count to 13.

Quixley (pictured) has been with the Brisbane-based firm for 10 years and specialises in insurance law, specifically the liability and professional indemnity classes of business.

She was admitted in 2002 and has practised exclusively in insurance law ever since. Her experience covers the full range of insurance claims’ management advice.

Quixley’s appointment brings the number of partners within Barry.Nilsson’s insurance & health law team to seven.

The appointment was welcomed by insurance & health partner Peter Murdoch: “Melanie is well known and respected among our clients and the industry and has built a reputation for professionalism and exceptional client service.”

“I speak for the partnership when I say we’re looking forward to having Melanie’s expertise at the management level.”

Barry.Nilsson also announced the appointment of Kylie Powell to senior associate.

Powell started her legal career with Barry.Nilsson after completing her studies in 2005. She was admitted in 2007 and has been specialising in insurance law ever since.

Her experience covers the areas of public and product liability and subrogated recovery claims. She has also completed a secondment with a major insurer during her time with the firm.

Powell’s appointment brings the senior associate count at the firm up to 24.

Barry.Nilsson’s managing partner Don Leembruggen welcomed the promotions.

“This promotion of Melanie and Kylie is reflective of their contribution to the firm both in their roles as lawyers and in their commitment to the firm’s values and involvement in the broader industry,” said Leembruggen.

“All of our team members are encouraged to advance their careers and we take great delight in seeing their growth and achievements.”

Both appointments took effect on 1 January.
