Sparke Helmore hires Hockey's senior adviser

A former Sparke Helmore partner and senior advisor to Joe Hockey has joined Moray & Agnew as a partner.

A former SparkeHelmore partner and senior advisor to Joe Hockey has joined Moray & Agnew as a partner.

Tim McDonald has been charged with the role of heading up and expanding the firm’s national workplace practice. He will be based in Sydney.

McDonald has previously represented employers across a broad spectrum of workplace relations, human resources and employment advisory issues.

McDonald has been the lead employer advocate in most major test cases affecting employers in New South Wales over the past decade, tackling issues concerning enterprise bargaining, awards, discrimination, termination of employment, industrial disputes and union rights.

He has been involved in major construction projects, including the Sydney Olympics.

Commenting on the appointment, Moray & Agnew national managing partner, Michael Pitt, said: "Tim's industry, government and legal experience in advising and working with employers across different sectors in various capacities will certainly be an asset to our clients and to the firm."
