Bakers gains competitor's environment expert

An environment specialist has left DLA Phillips Fox for international firm Baker & McKenzie.

AN environment specialist has left DLA Phillips Fox for international firm Baker & McKenzie.

Jennifer Hughes has joined Bakers as special counsel in the firm's Sydney office.

Hughes joins a host of high profile environment lawyers, including partners Andrew Beatty, Paul Curnow and Martijn Wilder.

Hughes will be handed the task of advising in planning and environmental law, waste management, local government law and commercial negotiations, and climate change law.

At DLA Phillips Fox she advised local governments, developers, corporations and contractors.

Partner Beatty welcomed Hughes to the Bakers team.

"We are delighted that [Hughes] has joined our Sydney practice. Jennifer is a very senior lawyer and has considerable experience in planning, environment and local government law,” he said.
