A former senior legal counsel at Eni Australia and VICO, an ENI-BO joint venture, will join Clayton Utz in November.

The leading oil and gas expert John King joins the firm as partner, effective 15 November 2011.

King has over 15 years experience advising major participants in the petroleum and petrochemical sectors on a wide range of energy related matters including upstream exploration and production projects, offshore contracting, pipeline projects, processing and long-term marketing arrangements, asset sale and purchase, and independent power projects.

He has experience in Australia, the United Kingdom, Indonesia and North-Asia.

The national head of Corporate, Graham Taylor, said King's appointment would add significant strength to the firm's energy and resource team.

"[King's] appointment reflects strong growth in the oil and gas sector in Western Australia and the region and reflects our commitment to, and longer-term growth strategy for, our energy and resources practice. [He] has advised on virtually all aspects of the oil and gas sector and his substantial experience advising on Asia-Pacific LNG projects will be a significant asset."
