Norton Rose has hired from both Gilbert + Tobin and Corrs Chambers Westgarth in a bid to boost its partner numbers.

NORTON Rose Australia has hired from both Gilbert + Tobin and Corrs Chambers Westgarth in a bid to boost its partner numbers.

The firm has today announced the appointment of two lateral partners to its corporate and banking practice in Martyn Taylor from G+T and Scott Miller from Corrs.

Taylor joins as a partner in the corporate practice group in Sydney and Miller as partner in the banking practice group in Melbourne.

Taylor was a partner specialising in competition matters and telecommunications and energy regulatory issues at G+T.

He has expertise in telecommunications access, merger clearances, utilities and infrastructure, regulatory investigations and providing strategic advice on complex regulatory and commercial matters, his new firm said.

Taylor has been an adviser to Telstra for over 10 years on major wholesale access issues and complex regulatory matters. He also has experience with the telecommunications regulatory regimes in Asia and the Middle East and counts numerous large telecommunication companies in these countries among his clients.

Martyn will work with Norton Rose's technology team in Australia, and in Asia to bolster its telecommunications-related practice.

Miller was with Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Melbourne. He specialises in corporate and commercial lending, in particular, structured property and corporate finance. He also has expertise in securitisation and a range of other commercial financing transactions.

The appointments bring the number of lateral partners who have joined Norton Rose Australia since it integrated with Norton Rose Group to 20.

The latest appointments follow the recent announcement that John Moutsopoulos, Zein El Hassan and Paul Humphreys from Clayton Utz will join Norton Rose Australia’s corporate team. Tessa Hoser also joins Norton Rose Australia in Sydney from her role as general counsel at Export Finance and Insurance Corporation, having previously been a banking partner at Freehills.
