Herbert Geer team defection sees CBP add 15

Herbert Geer’s planning, government, infrastructure and environment team has defected to Colin Biggers & Paisley’s new Brisbane office.

CBP has scored 13 fee earners, including three partners, and two support staff from Herbert Geer. The team will join the firm on 2 December.

Leading the group are partners Ian Wright (pictured), Samantha Hall and Ben Caldwell, along with senior associate Ronald Yuen.

Ian Wright will also lead the CBP planning and environment team nationally.

The appointments follow the recent launch of CBP in Queensland earlier this month. The firm merged with Brisbane-based Hemming + Hart, which added six partners and 14 lawyers to CBP’s headcount.

“This is an exciting development for our new Brisbane office and we are delighted that this outstanding team has decided to join our firm,” said CBP managing partner Dunstan de Souza.

Earlier this year (30 September) CBP poached another Herbert Geer lawyer, Dan Brush, a technology, media and communications expert who joined the firm’s Sydney office as a special counsel.

Herbert Geer also dealt with another sizeable drop in headcount in April when it lost three partners and 14 staff to HWL Ebsworth’s Sydney office.
