Getting the Bull out of Gadens

Gadens senior associate Dan Bull is launching his own firm in Perth next week.

Bull (pictured) finished up at Gadens on Wednesday (26 February). He will officially launch the new firm, DanBull Legal, on 4 March.

DanBull Legal will specialise in finance-related legal services. Bull, who is currently the only member of the new firm, said DanBull Legal would provide a low-cost business model thanks to low overheads and infrastructure costs.

Bull started his legal career at Minter Ellison in Perth in 2001 before moving to Sydney to join Henry Davis York. When he returned to Perth in 2007, he worked briefly at his former firm Minters before taking in-house roles at ANZ and NAB.

Lawyers Weekly exclusively revealed last week (20 February) that Gadens had laid off three partners and around 20 lawyers and support staff from its Brisbane office. A firm spokesperson told Lawyers Weekly at the time that no further redundancies were planned at any of Gadens’ other offices.
