Keypoint Law has poached a special counsel from HWL Ebsworth to launch its new government practice in Canberra.
Lora Shaw (pictured) has taken the role of consulting principal at Keypoint. The young firm was launched by UK-based Keystone Law earlier this year.

Shaw had been a special counsel at HWL for one-and-a-half years, advising Commonwealth agencies and public and private companies on major infrastructure and ICT projects, procurement contracts and information governance.
Prior to HWL, Shaw was a special counsel at Clayton Utz for just under a year. She has also worked at Ashurst, where she was a corporate lawyer for seven years in the firm’s Canberra, Sydney and Tokyo offices.
Commenting on her appointment, Shaw said she was drawn to Keypoint’s structure and approach.
“In particular, it enables me to service government and corporate clients with a tailored and competitive fee offering which I think will add real value to clients,” she added.
Keypoint lawyers have carriage to structure fees directly with the client, with the freedom to move away from hourly billing.
The firm also offers fee earners the chance to pocket 70 per cent of the fees they generate from clients.
In August, Keypoint launched an estate planning practice group.
