On the Hunt for a corporate partner

Hunt & Hunt has hired a corporate partner in Adelaide in the wake of losing a former office managing partner.

The firm has recruited Stefan Jury (pictured) to its commercial and financial services practice in Adelaide. Jury has been working in the Middle East for the past six years, most recently as partner with a Qatar-based firm.

Prior to moving overseas in 2008, he was a partner at the now defunct South Australian firm Kelly & Co.

On 7 November, corporate partner and former Sydney managing partner of Hunt & Hunt, John Kell, quit the firm after 13 years to join Hicksons Lawyers.

Jury was involved in notable financial transactions in Qatar, including the first major convertible bond issue and the first cross-border Islamic securitisation.

“I was lucky to work on some of the most extraordinary transactions and advise on complex and challenging matters in a rapidly growing economy,” said Jury.

“My experience also helped me to appreciate the value of relationship-driven service; it is of paramount importance when dealing with clients and businesses in the Middle East.”

Hunt & Hunt chairman Amanda Harley added that Jury’s experience brings a global perspective to the national firm.

“Like all businesses, our clients face an ever-increasing internationalisation; Stefan’s experience will better enable us to assist clients deal with the pressures and opportunities this presents.”
