The former head of construction at Gilbert+Tobin, Emanuel Confos, has taken on a partner role at Norton Rose Fulbright in Sydney.

“Being part of this team, and having access to the spread of resources available to it via its expansive global footprint, will allow me to service clients in a way that I have not previously been able to do,” said Mr Confos (pictured).

Commenting on the appointment, NRF managing partner in Australia Wayne Spanner said, “We see the addition of someone in Sydney with Emanuel’s talent, drive and experience as bringing enormous benefit to our clients and our broader team.”

Mr Confos was described by a respondent for the Chambers Asia-Pacific directory listings as “an excellent lawyer, good value and more responsive to demands than any other lawyer I use”.

He has experience in large scale complex construction contracts and litigation, and previously advised Brookfield Multiplex in a landmark 2014 High Court decision.

NRF in Australia has added 13 new partners since January 2014, including Andrea Rezos from Ashurst, Dale Rayner from Clifford Chance and John Elliott and Adrienne Parker from Clayton Utz.

NRF also recently lost a retail and franchise partner, Greg Hipwell, to Maddocks. In January this year, Derek La Ferla, NRF’s former corporate advisory team leader, defected to Lavan Leal.
