The head of Gilbert + Tobin’s litigation practice in Melbourne has been named on the 2015 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

Janet Whiting (pictured) said it was “a privilege to be recognised as part of this prestigious list of women” after receiving the honour last week.

The honour roll recognises the achievements and contributions of Victorian women who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in their field of expertise, interest or endeavour.

In addition to her legal role, Ms Whiting has been a director on not-for-profit boards and has held senior positions in both the arts and tourism sectors.

A total of 22 women were honoured this year.

“By celebrating their work, we’re sending a powerful message about gender equality,” said the minister for women, Fiona Richardson.

Last year, prominent Victorian silk Fiona McLeod was among 20 women named on the roll.
