DLA PIPER is continuing to build its Asian presence with one of its top real estate lawyers, Joseph Christian, having recently relocated to its Hong Kong office from Boston.

Christian, who joins the Hong Kong team as a partner, has more than 25 years’ experience in real estate law, advising real estate advisers, operating companies, tax qualified and public pension and profit sharing plans, financial institutions, real estate investment trusts as well as individuals.

He has substantial experience handling complex deals involving the acquisition, financing management and disposal of real estate in big markets across the US as well as overseas. He has also advised clients on real estate joint ventures, equity and debt financings, real estate and land use law, environmental law, taxation of tax-exempt entities and rules governing real estate investment trusts.

In his new role, Christian will focus on advising Asian and foreign institutions and investors looking at capitalising business opportunities in the downturn of the US real estate market.
