CONTINUING THE expansion of its climate change and clean energy team in Australia, Anna McCann has relocated to Baker & McKenzie’s Melbourne office after more than six years at the firm’s London office.
McCann specialises in carbon markets, providing advice to governments, financial institutions and participants of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). She also advises entities engaging in Joint Implementation and Clean Development Mechanism projects under the Kyoto Protocol, as well as emissions reduction projects under other regional and domestic climate change laws.
In particular, McCann’s experience with the EU ETS, which she has been involved in since before the market’s inception, will be a significant asset to the Melbourne team.
“With the raft of new climate change policy and legislation being introduced in Australia, I am delighted to be arriving back in Melbourne to help Baker & McKenzie’s clients to both formulate policy solutions and manage the impacts,” McCann said.
“In particular, the experience I have had in implementing the EU ETS and supporting clients through the first phase will assist our clients in understanding the practical realities of working under this type of scheme as it is introduced in Australia.”
Martijn Wilder, who heads up the firm’s global climate change and clean energy practice, added: “[McCann’s] experience in London will be invaluable to the Australian team and crucial to the service we can offer our Melbourne-based clients.”
