GARY CHIERT and Beverly Kennedy have joined Corrs Chambers Westgarth as partners in the firm’s Sydney and Melbourne offices.

A specialist in indirect taxation with a particular focus on GST and stamp duty, Chiert joins the firm’s revenue group in the Sydney office.
Previously at Gilbert + Tobin, Chiert has considerable experience advising on the indirect tax consequences and opportunities arising from a range of transactions such as major property sales, infrastructure projects and mergers and acquisitions. He is also a member of the Australian Taxation Office Public Rulings Panel in relation to rulings on GST.
Kennedy joins Corrs’ Melbourne office from Minter Ellison. She has expertise in major projects, planning and environment, energy and resources and legislation and governance. In the environment arena, her experience includes working on the environmental impact assessment for the channel deepening project and for approvals for pilot geosequestration activities. She also has extensive experience advising governments, statutory corporations and the private sector in regards to public-private partnerships.
