NATIONAL COMMERCIAL law firm Home Wilkinson Lowry (HWL) has appointed automotive industry legal expert Evan Stents as a partner in its Melbourne practice.

Stents has extensive experience acting for automotive component producers, vehicle manufacturers, tool makers, after-market participants and service providers both in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. He is recognised as a leading legal expert in the operation of the Automotive Competitiveness & Investment Scheme (ACIS), the Federal Government’s principle funding scheme for the automotive industry.

“HWL has established a specialised Automotive Industry Group within the firm, which is made up of various lawyers of differing legal skill sets who have experience acting for clients in the automotive industry,” Stents said. “By focusing on the automotive industry, we are able to provide legal solutions that are particularly tailored to the unique challenges faced by the industry.

“At HWL we have a tremendous opportunity to expand our coverage of the automotive industry because of HWL’s already existing reputation and client base in the retail sector of the automotive industry under the leadership of Bob Gardini” Stents said.

“With the merging of my practice and that of [Gardini’s] into HWL’s automotive industry group, we see ourselves as being the leading law firm for the automotive industry.”

Managing partner Juan Martinez said the firm is “especially enthusiastic about [Stents] joining us in Melbourne. His knowledge and reputation in the automotive industry is exceptional.

“[His] appointment reinforces HWL’s commitment to the firm’s strategy in appointing industry specialists to our commercial practice” Martinez said.
