BRIAN SCHECH has joined McInnes Wilson as a partner in the property (special projects) division.

Schech began his legal career in South Africa before immigrating to Australia in 2001. He joins his new firm after leaving Freehills, and will look after commercial property transactions, property development and property trusts.

He has 15 years’ experience across a range of property sectors including the acquisition and sale of commercial and industrial property including hotels, retail shopping centres and child care centres.

“[Schech’s] background in commercial property transactions and property development will be a great asset to McInnes Wilson,” managing partner Paul Tully said.

“It is a mark of McInnes Wilson’s standing in the legal fraternity that we can attract someone of [his] experience and calibre from a national firm,” he said.

“His experience with acquisitions in the Australian and Queensland property market and due diligence investigations will provide our clients with an invaluable resource.”

The firm made another recent appointment from a national law firm, with Donal Keenan joining the commercial litigation team from Allens Arthur Robinson.

After obtaining degrees in civil and commercial law at University College in Dublin, Keenan obtained his masters in commercial law from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Keenan has extensive experience in property and commercial litigation and worked in the funds management, real estate and superannuation practice group at Allens.
