Caleb Franklin, a senior solicitor from the Aboriginal Legal Service and member of the NSW Law Society's Criminal Law Committee, has been appointed as a magistrate.

"It is pleasing to see that the expertise of NSW solicitors continues to be recognised with another one of our members appointed to the judiciary," said president of the Law Society of NSW, Mary Macken.
"Mr Franklin is a valued member of the NSW Law Society's Criminal Law Committee. While it will be sad to see Mr Franklin go, we congratulate him and wish him well in his new role as a magistrate."
