Following the resignation of its CEO Catherine Schultz, who held the leadership position for just one year, Wallmans Lawyers has undergone a management restructure and appointed its first managing partner in over a decade.

Effective from 1 July, commercial and property partner Trevor Edmond will fill the newly created role, working with a board of five internal partners, with a view to adding an external board member in the near future.

According to the firm, the decision to consolidate the firm's key strategic functions to a smaller team is the result of an "extensive review of Wallmans' management structure, leadership capacity and its range of management functions and operations".

"Trevor Edmond has been intensively involved in our firm management in one capacity or another for the past five years... so to that end, we've formalised and recognised his already significant leadership," said outgoing chairman of partners, Peter Hoban.

Edmond, who will retain his commercial and property practice in addition to his management role, will work with a board comprised of partners Scott Lumsden, Michael Kelledy, Geoff Black and David Semple.

Schultz, who steps down from the role after 15 years with the firm, will stay on in an advisory capacity until the end of 2011.
