Clayton Utz lawyer Evelyn Tadros has been named as an ambassador to the Human Rights Arts and Film Festival.

Tadros, a commercial litigation lawyer who founded the festival in 2008, was one of six members of Melbourne's art community to be appointed to the position.

Tadros developed the idea for the festival while still at university and, as an ambassador, will take an active role in connecting the festival to communities.

The aim of the festival is to engage people with human rights issues through the arts, and to broaden the awareness of human rights concerns throughout the community.

"Film and art are really powerful tools to communicate stories about human rights, and that is one way to connect with those issues," Tadros told Lawyers Weekly last year.

The festival is staged in capital cities around the country in May and June each year.
