Baker & McKenzie has appointed a former Corrs Chambers Westgarth special counsel to the firm’s partnership.
Rowan McMonnies (pictured) is a competition lawyer based in Sydney. Prior to his role at Corrs, McMonnies worked at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, first as a director in the Mergers Investigations Branch, then as a principal lawyer in the Enforcement and Compliance division.

McMonnies specialises in merger clearance, ACCC investigations and enforcement, and competition law advisory work.
Bakers will add two more partners from rival firms to its ranks in the coming weeks. Lawyers Weekly exclusively revealed in April that the firm had poached Clayton Utz partner Darren Fooks and Allens partner Jo Daniels to spearhead the firm’s planned Brisbane office, due to open in June or July this year.
Bakers also nabbed banking & finance partner Martin Irwin from Herbert Geer in February.
