Cindy is the Chief Operating Officer and Company Secretary of the Paul Ramsay Foundation – Australia’s largest philanthropic Foundation - with an ambition to break the cycle of disadvantage in Australia. She is also Chair of the Foundation’s Criminal Justice Taskforce.
Cindy was formerly the (first female) Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Bar Association, the peak body representing 6000 barristers nationally; and the former Assistant Director of the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce, regarding abuse and misconduct within the Australian Defence Force.
Cindy has considerable experience in both private practice and government as a criminal defence lawyer and has lectured in both criminal law and tort law.
Cindy is a passionate advocate for mental health within the legal profession. She assisted to establish BarCare which provides professional psychological and other support to members of the NSW Bar and is a Director with Minds Count (formerly known as the Tristan Jepson Memorial Foundation), which aims to decrease work related psychological ill-health in the legal community and to promote workplace psychological health and safety.
Cindy holds a Master’s Degree in Law along with undergraduate degrees in Commerce and Law; and studied international law at The University of Graz in Austria under academic scholarship.
