Academia, Training and Education Lawyer of the Year

This award recognises the academia, training and education lawyer who best services the unique needs of these organisations.

It includes in-house lawyers who work in all types of academia, training and education organisations, including universities, TAFE colleges and vocational education and training providers.

It is open to all in-house lawyers who have been employed by an academia, training and education organisation that has been active for at least two full financial years and is registered in Australia.

To be eligible for this award, the lawyer needs to have serviced the needs of their organisation in the 12 months from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017. This includes but is not limited to offering insights into academia registration and assessments in compliance with the national education standards.

Assessment Criteria:

Nominees will be judged on their responses to the following:

  • Define the importance of the work you have completed for the organisation that has provided vocational education and training.
  • How has this work been a value-add to students?
  • How has your role benefited the organisation?
  • How did you display leadership and initiative during the evaluation and audit process conducted by the jurisdiction’s training authority/authorities?
