Blake Dawson logs on to broadband deal

Blake Dawson has been appointed legal adviser for the Government's $43 billion broadband project.

THE Federal Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy has appointed Blake Dawson as legal advisor for the Implementation Study for the Government's proposed $43 billion National Broadband Network project.

Blake Dawson will be the primary provider of legal services to the Department in connection with the NBN Implementation Study.

Blake Dawson was appointed following a highly competitive tender process.

The Blake Dawson team, led by Bill Koeck, will work closely with the Department, lead advisors on the Implementation Study, McKinsey-KPMG, and NBN Co Ltd.

The firm's managing partner, John Carrington, said Blake Dawson's selection as legal advisor recognised the firm's leading position in the areas of government, corporate M&A, infrastructure, competition law and telecommunications.

"This is a tremendous appointment. It reflects the firm's focus on expertise, teamwork and industry sectors which are critical to Australia's economy",  Carrington said.

The NBN project will be a key economic and policy commitment for the Australian Government for the next eight years.
