Firms: King & Wood Mallesons (Macquarie Group Limited); Sidley Austin (AWAS Aviation Capital Limited)

Deal: Macquarie Group Limited’s capital raising to partly fund the US$4 (AU$5.19) billion acquisition of a 90-aircraft operating lease portfolio from AWAS Aviation Capital Limited.

Value: The deal involved a capital raising proposed to consist of a AU$500 million institutional placement and a share purchase plan to eligible Australian and New Zealand shareholders of up to AU$10,000 worth of shares per eligible shareholder (subject to scale-back).

Area: Capital markets

Key players: The KWM team was led by partner Evie Bruce (pictured), supported by solicitor Andrew Dwyer.
