Online travel giant acquires digital restaurant-reservation business

Arthur Apos Baker & McKenzie

The Priceline Group has acquired AS Digital to facilitate their expansion into the Australian digital restaurant-reservation market.

Firms: Baker & McKenzie (The Priceline Group Inc); Mills Oakley (AS Digital)

Deal: The Priceline Group acquired AS Digital

Value: Undisclosed

Area: M&A

Key Players: The Baker & McKenzie team was led by partner Arthur Apos, assisted by senior associate Chris Taylor and associate Leah Cutri.

The Mills Oakley team was headed up by partner Daniel Livingston, assisted by senior associate Nicole Tumiati and associate Luke Duggan.

Deal Significance: Restaurant table and reservation management solutions provider AS Digital powers mobile apps, widgets and websites under the brand bookarestaurant.com, which helps consumers find and book restaurants all over the world.

The Priceline Group has six main brands in online travel and related services in more than 200 countries: booking.com, priceline.com, KAYAK, agoda.com, rentalcars.com and OpenTable.

The Priceline Group acquired AS Digital to expand their global footprint in the digital restaurant-reservation business, following the group's acquisition of OpenTable in 2014.

AS Digital will roll into the OpenTable brand within The Priceline Group, and serve to accelerate OpenTable's entry into the Australian market and expand its operations in Japan and across the Asia-Pacific region.
