Area: M&A

Key Players: Partner Margie Tannock led the Squire Patton advisory team, assisted by senior associate Lauren Barnett and associate Natalie Cosh.

St John of God Health Care was represented by its in-house team, led by general counsel and company secretary Larissa Johnstone and included legal counsel Sophie Warburton.

Deal Significance:

The partnership and site acquisition was comprised of a $360 million public hospital project, funded by the state and federal governments to be delivered under a public-private partnership, allowing St John of God Health Care to deliver hospitals at the new Midland Health Campus.

“This groundbreaking partnership represents the successful outcome of lengthy and extensive negotiations on the land package and sale agreement,” Ms Tannock said.

“The Midland hospital project is an innovative arrangement between a state development authority and a private health provider, and unique land sale agreements were necessary to reflect the unique nature of the arrangement.”

WA Minister for Health John Day and Minister for Planning Donna Faragher attended a ceremony at the site on 21 November as the $10.6 million sale was completed.
