Mallesons Stephen Jaques has acted for BG Group in its deal to sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Queensland Curtis Project to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), represented by Herbert Smith's Hong Kong office.

The deal represents one of the largest ever sales of LNG to Chinese interests.

Mallesons partner James Fahey said he was proud to be part of such a significant transaction.

"We are delighted to have worked on a deal that represents a significant milestone for Queensland's booming LNG industry," he said.

Mallesons partner Joshua Cole and senior associate Craig Rogers were also involved in the deal.

Mallesons has been further involved in the LNG sector in Western Australia, advising Chevron on a number of aspects of its $43 billion Gorgon LNG project on Barrow Island.
