Minter Ellison has advised Roads and Maritime Services on multiple phases of the Pacific Highway upgrade between Tintenbar and Ewingsdale, north of Ballina NSW.

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly the Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales) has awarded the contract for the design and construction of the upgrade to Baulderstone Pty Ltd.

Under the contract, Baulderstone will design and construct approximately 16.3 kilometres of new dual carriageways on the Pacific Highway, a new tunnel, a number of new bridges and underpass structures and interchange upgrades.

Minters advised on the registration of interest (ROI) and request for tender (RFT) phases of the tender and in the negotiation and execution of the project deed with Baulderstone. The firm also acted on various rail agreements with Transport for NSW (formerly Country Rail Infrastructure Authority).

The deal was valued at $530 million.

Sydney construction and infrastructure partner Nicole Green led the Minters team on the transaction and was supported by HR&IR partner Garth Jolly, real estate partners Penny Murray and Virginia Briggs, and construction and infrastructure senior associates Simon Ralton and Carrie Metcalfe.

Senior associates Mark Khoo and Todd Woodland also assisted from Minters' Sydney office.

Minters has previously acted for Roads and Maritime Services for projects in excess of $100 million, and on the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade of the Pacific Highway.
