A TRAINEE lawyer at UK firm Herbert Smith has been fired after sneaking a look at her supervising partner's confidential emails. The emails, which contained information regarding which newly qualified solicitors would be kept on at the firm, were discovered by the trainee after her partner failed to securely file them. As reported by rollonfriday.com, the trainee was unable to keep the hot gossip to herself and leaked the info to the newly qualified solicitors weeks before the official announcement. When rumours got back to the firm's HR department, an investigation was launched exposing her as the snitch, and she was promptly shown the door. Maybe she should use the free time to brush up on a few of the legal basics - client legal privilege springs to mind.
