A Scottish popstar could face legal action after ditching her music career to become ... a lawyer.

Popsinger Julie Hodson (better known as Joolz), 23, could be sued by her record company for allegedly breaking her contract with pop group, Splash, to concentrate on a somewhat less glamorous career as a solicitor.

Hodson and her friend Charleigh Anderson were signed up by When In Rome records after being spotted in a hula dancing competition while on holiday in Gran Canaria, reports sundaymail.co.uk.

The pair released their debut single, "Aloha", in June, which become a huge hit across Europe, but Hodson recently informed the record company that she was turning her back on the limelight to focus on her legal career.

Earlier this year Hodson started as a trainee solicitor with top Scottish law firm Maclay Murray & Spens in Glasgow.

However, she still appears on the band's MySpace website wearing a bikini to promote their new single "Horny Hula", delivering this insightful message to fans: "The greatest gift I can give the world is the gift of dance. By the end of summer, everybody will be doing the Horny Hula."

Folklaw hopes her she raises the bar a little when it comes to drafting contracts.
