Former Victorian magistrate Raffaele Barberio has found himself in a bit of a mess over his German Shepherd's faeces.

According to The Age, Barberio was walking his German Shepherd in March last year and failed to stop after his dog defecated on the nature strip.

Reports say that a neighbour witnessed the faux pas from his gold Range Rover and confronted Barberio, insisting he clean up after his dog.

After being caught out by his neighbour, the former magistrate "just snapped", according to The Age, and tried to punch the neighbour through the car window only to have his punch skillfully blocked by the neighbour.

Then, to make matters worse, The Age reports that Barberio proceeded to pick up his dog's faeces in a plastic bag and threatened to throw it at his neighbour yelling: "Do you want it?"

When police arrived at the scene, Barberio tried flashing his magistrates' identification card and refused to answer questions.

Unfortunately for Barberio, charges were laid anyway - which, consequently, just enraged him further - causing him to key both sides of the neighbour's Range Rover resulting in more than $9000 damage.

Barberio was convicted on two charges of assault and intentional damage and fined $7500 - a bit more costly than the council fine for not picking up your dog's business.
