Law.com reports that Chancery Judge Talmadge Littlejohn ordered people in his courtroom to stand up and recite the pledge, but Oxford Attorney Danny Lampley "failed and refused to do so".

Littlejohn was evidently not impressed and promptly sent Lampley to the slammer, where he was jailed for criminal contempt of court and spent five hours "purging himself of said criminal contempt by complying with the order of this Court by standing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in open court."

Littlejohn is apparently competing his second term as a chancery judge and presides over a court that primarily handles divorces and child custody matters.

He is up for re-election in November, but is running unopposed. Folklaw is guessing that no-one is game enough to challenge him.
