A Sydney and Canberra-based law firm is making no pretences about the consequences of divorce with a horrific photo montage on its website.

The family law homepage of Armstrong Legal features the image of a black and white smiling bridal party, torn down the middle to reveal a distraught-faced, teary-eyed child.

The confronting juxtaposition offers ablatant reminder to couples who the firm claims to support through what "can be a traumatic and uncertain time".

"We deal with the process of separation on a daily basis and ... understand it is not uncommon for you and your former partner to be at different emotional stages," the website reads.

"We have seen first hand the benefits that a client receives (reduced anxiety and better quality evidence) when they have been properly informed of likely outcomes throughout their family law matter."

Folklaw sincerely hopes that neither partner is at a vulnerable "emotional stage" when they land on this homepage.

Visually pushing the point that the best interests of the child are of paramount consideration in court, the bizarre photo creation might well have the opposite effect to "reduced anxiety" upon first impression.

Folklaw isn't sure who designed their website, but they could possibly work on a more family-friendly welcome.
