About the Role... The firm now has an opportunity within their highly regarded Commercial Disputes Team for an experienced Senior Associate level (eg. 6+ years) litigation Lawyer, predominantly to provide strategic and commercially astute advice to clients (eg. banking and property sectors, oil and gas, sporting as well as public inquiries with government and regulatory authorities) regarding varied & complex disputed matters (eg. major tort or contractual claims and class actions) requiring skills across advisory, litigation, mediation, arbitration and hearings being required.
As a key member of this team, working closely with well-known ADR/Litigation Partners, this role will involve supervision and mentoring of less experienced colleagues, as well as internal and external business development, and essentially will involve:
Advising clients, managing their expectations eg. advising on complex dispute resolution procedures and the development of strategic plans;
Arbitration, Litigation, including drafting of all documentation, trial preparation, preparing witness statements; expert evidence etc.
Mediation, including appearance, negotiations, advising on settlement;
Hearing(s) preparation, client/counsel liaison.
About YOU... Ideally you will be skilled in advising on complex and challenging matters (including drafting and statutory interpretation)together with sound financial knowledge and be experienced in managing/coaching junior lawyers in addition to:
Similar experience likely to have been gained in a large, mid to top tier law firm disputes/litigation team
Highly developed communication (written & verbal) skills;
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills;
Strong integrity and pro-active 'client service' approach;
Ability to provide leadership, multi-task & meet competing deadlines;
