Located on the Sydney CBD fringe, Inner West is one of Australia’s most progressive and community-focused new Councils serving a resident base of approx. 190,000 in area of 36 square km from Balmain in the North, Newtown in the East, Tempe in the South and Croydon in the West.  With a vibrant, diverse and passionate community, Inner West Council are seeking an inspirational and influencing General Counsel to provide independent legal and strategic advice direct to the CEO on Council matters.

The successful candidate will also provide independent legal and strategic advice to other members of management and staff and will provide legal opinion on elected Council matters at the request of the CEO. Where appropriate, the General Counsel will instruct external legal advisers to ensure Council receives the best possible legal advice.

You will be a natural leader who will provide strong leadership and motivation to your team.
