This will likely be the 'dream' role for a talented and experienced Construction/ Projects/Commercial Lawyer seeking a new & rewarding in-house Legal Counsel opportunity!

About our client...
Our client is a prominent, successful & progressive national manufacturing company operating in the Property Development space. You'll undoubtedly recognise some of their more 'ionic' builder client names & construction projects in & around Melbourne! This is an exciting new role and will be based in the inner western suburbs (less than 20kms from CBD).  Currently they have approx 75 staff including designers & project teams plus an additional 200 labour hire workers.  They have amazing state of the art facilities!, which have been specifically designed, for their growing business.
About this role...
Reporting to the General Counsel (you will be one of four in-house lawyers!) and the Directors of the business, this will be a fairly autonomous role in providing the legal support that is required to ensure contracts/legal requirements are compliant with company policies and guidelines; updating any legislative requirements, group policies & rolling out to relevant stakeholders. The role also involves assisting with transactional matters eg. negotiating/drafting/reviewing of complex agreements; operational needs eg. contract interpretation and litigation matters. 

About you...

Ideal candidates will have: 
  • Min. 3 to 6 years post admission experience gained within a recognised law firm;
  • Solid experience gained in commercial matters, eg. in a commercial, construction and/or projects practice;
  • Ability to discuss/review key risks (legal, financial, commercial and technical) in respect of new tenders/bids;
  • Excellent negotiation/drafting skills;
  • Highly developed, effective communication skills -both written & oral;
  • Strong attention to detail and knowledge of industry standard contracts and relevant legislation;
  • Possess an approachable manner in order to assist others in a team environment and;
  • Be able to multi task and manage competing priorities.
