THE FEDERAL Attorney-General has welcomed a new website promoting the skills of Australian arbitrators and mediators in the resolution of international commercial disputes.

An initiative of the Australian Government's International Legal Services Advisory Council (ILSAC), the website is a portal providing current information on international commercial dispute resolution in Australia and links through professional organisations to Australian service providers.

Intended to be of particular benefit to Australian businesses operating overseas, A-G Philip Ruddock said Australian arbitrators, conciliators and mediators are increasingly attracting international recognition for their skills in the resolution of commercial disputes both in Australia and overseas.

He said arbitration is the most widely used method of resolving international commercial disputes.

The International Commercial Dispute Resolution website is www.icdr.gov.au.
