PROVING THAT it’s serious about breaking into the Latin American market, DLA Piper has brought in an international business law guru to head up the firm’s practice in that area.

Stuart Berkson, who will be based in the firm’s Chicago office, will act as the joint global practice group leader of the firm’s emerging Latin American practice. The focus of Berkson’s practice is advising international companies in relation to transactions spanning multiple jurisdictions, including investment, acquisitions, dispositions, reorganisations, joint ventures, licensing and distribution arrangements.
He has extensive experience in matters involving Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Israel and many countries in Latin America, Western Europe and Asia.
DLA Piper’s Latin American practice was officially launched in March last year, and comprises corporate/M&A, real estate and finance practice groups, which are supported by its global dispute resolution, government affairs, franchise and distribution law practices.
