After rejecting allegations of age discrimination made by former employee Nicole Stransky, Freehills has settled the matter which was due to be heard by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal this June.
Earlier this month Stransky told Lawyers Weekly that she was taking on her former employer claiming she suffered age discrimination and continued bullying and harassment. Stranksy said she was humiliated as work was distributed to younger lawyers and she was excluded from large and complex matters. She also claimed that her supervising partners' "subtle behaviours" constituted bullying and harassment.
A Freehills spokesperson would not provide detail of the settlement and simply confirmed that "the matter has been resolved".
For more detail of the claims made by Stransky, see our earlier article: http://www.lawyersweekly.com.au/blogs/top_stories/archive/2010/03/04/the-former-employee-taking-on-freehills.aspx
