Healy, a property, planning and construction partner of Gadens in Sydney, is currently a member of the Tennis Australia Board, as well as president of Tennis NSW.

Healy is taking the reins from current president Geoff Pollard - with his term set to commence in October this year - and he will work with Pollard over the next six months in order to affect a smooth handover.

Despite Healy's new role, which is likely to be demanding, he will continue to work full-time as partner, but said he is looking forward to the opportunities and challenges the new role will bring.

"I am excited about the appointment and leading tennis in Australia," said Healy in a statement released today.

"There are many challenges and issues that need to be addressed if we are to appeal more to the community and if we are to produce champions. The answer lies in working together, being flexible, inclusive and be willing to think laterally."
