The sexualisation of children in the media will be examined in Melbourne this Friday (16 July) at a forum for the legal profession, held by the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV).

Addressing the forum will be director of Kids Free 2B Kids, Julie Gale, and Professor of Law at Flinders University, Elizabeth Handsley, who have both campaigned vigorously for the promotion of the healthy development of children and their body images.

Gale and Handsley will discuss the psychological evidence of the impact media/advertising has on children; recommendations made by the Senate Committee's inquiry into the sexualisation of children in the media and what action has been taken; plus the different legal options that could be used to address the program.

The Serving Up Insights breakfast forum will be hosted by LIV president Steven Stevens.
