AUSTRALIAN LAWYERS have named Corrs Chambers Westgarth the Australian law firm “employer of choice” in the Asian Legal Business 2008 employer of choice survey.

The big firms dominated the top spots this year, with Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Freehills, Allens Arthur Robinson and Minter Ellison filling out the top five places. There was more variation a bit further down the line, with TressCox, Clayton Utz, Blake Dawson, Lander & Rogers and Hopgood Ganim making up the top 10.

The survey covers 15,000 lawyers in 13 jurisdictions in the Asia-Pacific, with respondents asked to give their top three firms for each of six criteria: financial rewards, professional development and training, feedback and supervision, quality and variety of work, workload and work-life balance, and career and partnership prospects.

Corrs took out first place decisively, with not only the highest score overall but also for all six criteria.
