Mallesons Stephen Jaques has launched a new scholarship program aimed at supporting disadvantaged students.

The Mallesons Aspire Award will be available to Year 11 students in Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and recipients will receive mentoring and $9,000 apportioned throughout Year 12 and their first two years of tertiary study.

Student applicants must be looking to pursue a university degree, TAFE course or further studies in any field, but the scholarships will go to those who face difficulty in meeting the costs associated with tertiary study.

The award has been launched to mark the tenth anniversary of the Mallesons in the Community program, as well as the tenth anniversary of the firm's partnership with The Smith Family.

Mallesons chief executive partner Robert Milliner said he hopes the award will allow the firm to make a difference to the future of many "deserving young people".
