Dean Clifford-Jones holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Bachelor of Arts (Politics, Government and Public Policy) in addition to several post-graduate qualifications in law and business. Following his time as a Judges’ Associate, Mr Clifford-Jones was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2009. He is also admitted to the High Court of Australia.
Mr Clifford-Jones has worked in the legal industry for over a decade, including as a Crown Prosecutor and later as a Principal Lawyer in child protection. Mr Clifford-Jones is currently a full-time Professional Board Member (Legal) on the Parole Board Queensland.
In July 2017, Mr Clifford-Jones founded Pride in Law; Australia’s first LGBTIQ+ law association. Mr Clifford-Jones is currently a National Director and President of Pride in Law’s Queensland Chapter.
In 2020, the Law Council of Australia announced Mr Clifford-Jones as the 2020 Australian Young Lawyer Award winner. Mr Clifford-Jones was also the recipient of Griffith University’s 2018 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award (AEL). Mr Clifford-Jones has also been the recipient of the Queensland Public Service Commission Diversity Scholarship Award and a George Alexander Foundation Scholar.
